This is an old relined canvas depicting an unidentified gentleman, dressed in the English fashion and wearing a powdered wig. The stylistic analysis, contrasted with the various technical tests carried out, has corroborated its chronology. The restoration of the work at the centre revealed the existence of hands with intertwined fingers — previously not visible — a representation rarely found in the history of portraiture.
