Materials: Oil on canvas
The CAEM team, after a detailed investigation, has attributed the authorship of this piece to the Sitges painter Joaquim Sunyer (1874-1956). The construction of the brushstroke clearly corresponds to that of the artist, and although the palette of pigments is common at the time, the exhaustive study of the forms and also of the signature has definitively facilitated the attribution. “Seated female nude” corresponds to what was one of Sunyer’s favorite themes, along with landscape, but with a study character that can be understood as a respite between his nudes of more post-impressionist and noucentista style; in this sense, it is a unique canvas that opens the door to new readings of the work. An intimate, direct and very well done piece that highlights the plastic virtues of the Sitges painter.
